Sunderland Prediction

Sunderland occupy fourth spot in the third tier and are firmly placed in the play-off pack but due to too many draws, the Black Cats find themselves four points adrift of the automatic promotion places and second placed Barnsley.

This could all change of course with a win on Friday night and manager Jack Ross will be desperate for his side to show a greater cutting edge up front and be more ruthless in front of goal as they seek a top two finish.

Sunderland are unbeaten in their last nine league matches in League One, but this includes only three wins against Bradford City, Blackpool and AFC Wimbledon respectively, while no fewer than six stalemates are also included in this nine-match sequence.

The hosts still remain unbeaten at home with a record of 8-7-0 28/13 but will this be of any consolation if they don’t get promoted back up to the Championship at the end of the season I wonder?

Key-Facts – Sunderland v Accrington Stanley

  • Sunderland are unbeaten in their last nine league matches
  • Accrington have lost 3 of their last 4 away from home
  • Accrington have managed just 1 win from their last 9 away matches

Accrington Stanley Prediction

Accrrington Stanley dropped down to a lowly 16th place on the League One ladder after suffering a 2-0 defeat away from home at Scunthorpe United on the weekend, and the visitors have now gone six matches without a win overall in the third tier.

Recent defeats to Peterborough United, Bradford City, Charlton Athletic and Scunthorpe United have prevented John Coleman’s side from lifting themselves up into the top half of the division, and indeed, Accrington have managed just two wins from their last 15 matches overall in League One.

The rot appears to have set in away from home too as they’ve lost three of their last four on their travels amidst an overall away record of 5-4-7 14/21 and they’ve gained just one win from their last nine matches on the road, which was a 3-0 win at a struggling Plymouth Argyle at the time, but since then Plymouth have moved above Accrington as their respective fortunes have changed in recent times.

Accrington started brightly enough away from home as they went unbeaten in their first five away matches of the new season which included wins at Bristol Rovers, Oxford United and Walsall, but the slump in form has outweighed their early impact.

Betting Tips Verdict

Sunderland know they must win this one and a draw won’t be enough while Accrington face an uphill battle of getting something from the Stadium of Light.
