Sunderland Preview – Can the Black Cats extend unbeaten run to six?

Sunderland have been one of the favourites for promotion from League One before a ball was even kicked this season. Lee Johnson’s side have made a solid start, winning 12, drawing three and losing five. They are just two points behind leaders Rotherham United.

After three straight defeats, Sunderland have bounced back with a five-game unbeaten run in the league. They have won three and drawn two of their last five. In midweek, the Black Cats walloped Morecambe 5-0 at the Stadium of Light.

Our betting prediction:
Sunderland to win & over 2.5 goals

Only Charlton Athletic have won at the Stadium of Light in league action this season. Johnson’s boys have really made their home ground a fortress in front of their passionate fans this term, and Sunderland will be looking for another home win on Saturday.

Plymouth Argyle Preview – Can the Pilgrims leave Sunderland with a positive result?

Ryan Lowe is now at Preston North End, with Steven Schumacher taking over at Home Park. Schumacher started with a good 1-1 away draw with MK Dons in midweek. The point at the Stadium MK stopped a run of three consecutive League One defeats.

Plymouth were in stunning form before their recent blip, but the Pilgrims will be hoping that the draw at MK Dons is the start of something good. Lowe did a terrific job at Plymouth, but Schumacher is the perfect replacement.

Sunderland vs Plymouth Argyle Betting Advice

When these two met in May, Sunderland left Home Park with the points. Ross Stewart, Chris Maguire and Denver Hume netted in a 3-1 victory. However, Plymouth won at the Stadium of Light earlier in the season, with Adam Lewis and Joe Edwards on target in a 2-1 away success.

Sunderland have had the better of Plymouth in recent years, winning four of the last five meetings.
