High-flying Sutton United could move top of the National League with all three points when they take on struggling Solihull Moors at the Borough Sports ground on Saturday afternoon, as the hosts look to further extend their unbeaten run in the non-league top flight.
Sutton’s impressive set of results include six wins which have helped them move within two points of current league leaders, Macclesfield Town, and they come into this clash on the back of three wins on the trot with victories over Torquay United away from home, along with back-to-back home wins over Guiseley and Woking.
Sutton are also unbeaten in their last five on home turf which include points against fellow play-off contenders, Boreham Wood and Wrexham, both in 1-1 draws, while their home record stands at a reasonable 9-5-4 29/21. Look out for forwards Wright (11 goals) and Dundas (7 goals) as likely goalscorers here.
Solihull Moors still remain in the bottom four of the National League despite picking up recent wins against Woking, Dagenham & Redbridge and Dover Athletic, but they’re now just two points adrift of safety ahead of their trip down to Sutton United this weekend.
Solihull’s fortunes have definitely taken a turn for the better in recent times as they’ve suffered just one defeat from their last eight matches overall, which was a 1-0 defeat at Ebbsfleet United, although there’s still plenty of work to do on their results away from home.
An away record of 4-2-11 15/25 masks the fact that all four of their away wins so far this season, have been at mid-to-lower table opponents, and a trip to face Sutton could be a very different story.
