Swansea City Prediction

Swansea City suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Leeds United during the week at Elland Road, but The Swans return to their Liberty Stadium for this Sunday afternoon’s 5th round FA cup tie against Brentford as the hosts seek to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to six matches on home turf.

Graham Potter’s side have recently captured wins in the Championship over Sheffield United and Millwall as well as draws with Wigan Athletic and former club Birmingham City. In addition, Swansea City’s progress in the FA Cup started with a 3-0 win away at Villa Park against Aston Villa and then despatched League One side Gillingham 4-1 in the 4th round of the competition.

Swansea City possess a fairly decent record at home in the FA Cup in recent times as the hosts have lost just twice in their last 11 home ties in the cup which were to Leyton Orient and Tottenham, but wins last season against Wolves, an 8-1 demolition of Notts County and Sheffield Wednesday prove the hosts are no slouches in cup competition.

Forwards McBurnie (14 goals) and Celina (4 goals) are Swansea City’s main goal threats up front.

Key-Facts – Swansea City v Brentford

  • Swansea City are unbeaten in their last 5 matches in all competitions
  • Swansea City have lost just 2 of their last 11 home ties in the FA Cup
  • Brentford have won just 1 of their last 16 matches away from home

Brentford Prediction

Brentford head into this 5th round FA Cup tie in Swansea on the back of securing three wins from their last four matches in all competitions as they’ve gained league wins in the Championship against Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa, along with their 4th round win over National League outfit Barnet in the recent ‘battle of The Bees’.

Brentford had previously registered a 1-0 home win over League One side Oxford United in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, but if you’ve noticed, there’s been a bit of a trend set here by the visitors; most of Brentford’s success has been at Griffin Park where they’ve won their last five matches in all competitions.

However, switch to results away from home, and you’ll find that Brentford have been far less commanding with just one win from their last 16 matches in all competitions, which is a very poor record indeed.

Therefore, a Brentford win here looks extremely unlikely.

Betting Tips Verdict

Although it’s a cup game, Swansea hold a good record at home in the FA Cup while Brentford’s results away from Griffin Park have been disastrous.
