Swansea City will be aiming to record a third consecutive win in all competitions on Sunday afternoon when they play host to Newcastle United at the Liberty Stadium with the hosts in confident mood.
Swansea have registered back-to-back wins recently with a 4-1 thumping of League One outfit, MK Dons, in the League Cup which was followed up by a valuable 2-0 win away at beleaguered Crystal Palace, and they now return to home turf for Sunday’s clash.
The Swans have been making slow but steady progress under manager Paul Clement after a slow start, but the hosts come into this game having lost just once in their last eight matches in the Premier League, and that was to a rampant Manchester United. Former striker Wilfried Bony has returned to the club in his recent transfer back from Manchester City, and he’s expected to form an interesting strike partnership with Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham up front.
Visitors Newcastle United may well be rueing the recent international break as they secured a vital three points in their last match, seeing off West Ham in a 3-0 home win at St James’ Park, so they’ll head into this encounter in reasonably confident mood themselves.
However, last season’s euphoria of capturing the Championship title quickly evaporated at the start of their new Premier League campaign as The Magpies suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Tottenham at home, and away at new-boys Huddersfield Town respectively.
Rafa Benitez will be without striker Mitrovic who is suspended, but could re-call midfielder Shelvey, while forward Gayle could feature up front for the visitors.
Both teams are coming into this encounter on the back of wins last time out, but I feel Swansea might just have the edge here, hence the draw no bet option.
