Swansea City Preview – Will the Swans keep up their solid home form?

Steve Cooper made a stunning start to life in South Wales, guiding Swansea City to top spot during the first international break. They have tailed off since then, but the Welsh club are still very much in the mix for promotion.

Swansea are currently in eighth place with 46 points to their name, four points behind sixth-place Bristol City. City have won 12, drawn ten and lost eight of 30 matches, scoring 35 and conceding 34 along the way.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score – No

Swansea could do with a win on Saturday having picked up just one victory in four Championship matches. Last weekend, the Swans drew 1-1 with Preston North End at Deepdale.

Cooper’s troops have been in good form on their own patch lately, though, winning three and drawing two of five since back-to-back losses to Millwall and Fulham. On the whole, Swansea have had a mixed bag of results on their own patch, thus they would love three points at the Liberty this weekend.

Derby County Preview – Can the Rams cause an upset in South Wales?

Phillip Cocu has had a tough first year in English management. Derby have spent practically all season in the bottom half of the table. The Rams have won ten, lost ten and drawn ten of 30. Derby are in 13th place at present, ten points adrift of the play-offs and 11 points above the bottom three.

Derby have been sensational at home in the Championship this season, winning nine, drawing five and losing only twice. Only Preston, who have taken 33 home points, have a better home record in England’s second tier at present.

It’s been a completely different story away from Pride Park, though, as County have failed to win on the road in league action since beating Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on the opening weekend of the season.

Derby head to Wales having lost seven of their last nine away games in the Championship. Can the Rams put that woeful stat to bed by picking up a massive three points in Wales at the weekend?

Swansea City vs Derby County Betting Advice

When these two met at Pride Park in August, the Rams and Swans played out a pretty forgettable 0-0 draw. The last two meetings have ended all square, while Swansea have not beaten County for almost a decade.

Key Facts – Swansea City vs Derby County Betting Tip

  • Swansea are unbeaten in five at home, winning three and drawing two
  • Only two teams have accumulated less points away from home than the Rams so far
  • Derby’s last league win on the road came on the opening weekend of the season at Huddersfield

Only Luton Town and Barnsley – who are the current bottom two – have a poorer record on the road than Derby. With that in mind, I’m backing Swansea to take the points on home turf. I can’t see there being many goals, so check out the tempting price of 13/2 for Swansea to win 1-0.
