Swansea City Preview – In-form Swans to progress in the cup?

Steve Cooper’s Swansea City are in sensational form at present. Since a 2-0 league defeat at Derby County in mid-December, the Welsh side have gone on to win five and draw one of their following six league and cup fixtures.

At the time of writing, Swansea are in second spot in the Championship table. Cooper’s men are having a fine season, winning 13 of their opening 24 league matches. Last time out, City beat Barnsley 2-0 at Oakwell to extend their undefeated run.

In the third round of the FA Cup, Swansea beat Stevenage away from home. Wayne Routledge opened the scoring in the seventh minute, with Viktor Gyokeres doubling their advantage five minutes after half time in the eventual 2-0 triumph.

The Swans beat Nottingham Forest in the league back in November, and the South Wales club will fancy their chances of getting the better of the Midlands outfit in the cup at the weekend.

Nottingham Forest Preview – Can the Reds upset the Swans in Wales?

Despite an improved run of results of late, Nottingham Forest are well and truly in a relegation battle at the moment. The Reds are down in 20th spot in the Championship table, just five points above the drop zone.

Chris Hughton’s Nottingham Forest were beaten at home by Middlesbrough in midweek, which was their first defeat in any competition since a 3-1 league reverse to Brentford on December 15th. Prior to that, Forest had gone seven league and cup games unbeaten, winning four and drawing three.

Nottingham Forest beat Swansea’s rivals Cardiff City in round three. Lyle Taylor’s early effort was enough for a 1-0 home win over the Bluebirds. Can Forest see off Welsh opposition in the FA Cup once again this weekend?

Swansea City vs Nottingham Forest Betting Advice

Nottingham Forest picked up four points from the two Championship meetings last term, but the Swans won 1-0 when they locked horns at the City Ground in late November. A 43rd-minute Connor Roberts header won the points for City. They have been regular opponents over the years, but this will be the first FA Cup meeting between the two Championship clubs since 1929.
