Swansea City Preview – Will the Swans secure first home win since October?

Russell Martin has had a difficult first season at Swansea City after leaving MK Dons in the summer. The Swans have won seven, drawn seven and lost nine of their 23 league matches. They are in 17th but do have games in hand on the teams around them.

Swansea are without a win in five league and cup matches. They suffered three successive Championship defeats before losing 3-2 to Southampton in the FA Cup. However, the Welsh club stopped the rot with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town last weekend.

Our betting prediction:
Preston to keep a clean sheet
5/2

The Swansea.com Stadium is usually a tough place to go, but Swansea have not won at home since October. Can they put things right by getting maximum points on their own patch this weekend?

Preston North End Preview – Can the Lilywhites leave Wales with a positive result?

Preston North End are unbeaten in the league since new boss Ryan Lowe took over at Deepdale. After back-to-back wins over Barnsley and Stoke City, the Lilywhites drew 1-1 at home with Birmingham City last Saturday. They then came from two down to draw 2-2 with Sheffield United at Deepdale in midweek.

Preston were tipped by many for relegation this season, but they have done enough to keep themselves away from the bottom three. Frankie McAvoy was sacked after some poor results, but Lowe looks a good fit for North End.

Preston can put some real daylight between themselves and Swansea with three points in South Wales, while a draw would be a decent result and would keep their unbeaten run going.

Swansea City vs Preston North End Betting Advice

Preston picked up a 3-1 win when they welcomed Swansea to Deepdale in the reverse fixture back in August. Joel Piroe put the visitors in front, but goals from Sepp can den Berg, Emil Ris Jakobsen and Ben Whiteman turned the game on its head.

Both teams claimed 1-0 away wins in the two Championship meetings last season. An own goal from Matt Grimes in injury time gave Preston the points in Swansea back in April.

Key Facts – Swansea City vs Preston North End Betting Tip

  • Swansea are without a victory in five league and cup fixtures
  • The Swans have not won at home since October
  • Preston are unbeaten in three league games under Lowe

Swansea could do with the points having won just one of their previous seven league matches, but Preston will not be an easy nut to crack. Lowe’s North End have already beaten Barnsley and Stoke, and we fancy the away team to nick the points in Wales. The Preston win is nicely priced at 5/2.

As we mentioned, Preston left with a 1-0 win when they last played Swansea at the Swansea.com Stadium. A repeat 1-0 away victory is available at the big odds of 8/1.
