Russell Martin started life at Swansea City with an opening weekend defeat in the Championship at Ewood Park. Blackburn Rovers went 2-0 up after 48 minutes, with Jamie Paterson’s effort in the 52nd minute being no more than a consolation for the Swans. However, City did hit back with a 3-0 League Cup win at Reading in midweek.
Martin has big shoes to fill after Steve Cooper, who did an exceptional job at the Liberty Stadium during his two-year stint. Cooper guided the Welsh club to the Championship play-offs twice but finishing in the top six will be a tough task for Martin this term.

Sheffield United Preview – Can the Blades pick up maximum points in Wales?
Slavisa Jokanovic’s Sheffield United were beaten at home by Birmingham City last Saturday. The Blades were the big favourites, but Maxime Colin’s early effort gave Lee Bowyer’s men a surprise win.
Like Swansea, Sheffield United also picked up an EFL Cup win in midweek. Rhian Brewster, who was on loan at the Swans recently, scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over EFL League Two side Carlisle United at Bramall Lane.

Having kicked off with a disappointing home loss, Jokanovic & Co. could do with all three points at the Liberty on Saturday. United are the slight favourites, with the bookies pricing the away victory at 29/20.

Sheffield United won promotion under Chris Wilder in the 2018-19 Championship season, but the Blades were beaten home and away by Swansea.
