Swansea City Preview – Will the Swans make home advantage count?

Steve Cooper’s Swansea City have been in good form of late, taking seven points from their last three games. However, after back-to-back 2-0 wins over Barnsley and Queens Park Rangers, the Swans will have been slightly disappointed with Wednesday’s 0-0 home draw with Reading.

Swansea have one of the best home records in the Championship, winning six of their opening 11 league matches at the Liberty Stadium. City have suffered just one home loss, with Huddersfield Town winning 2-1 in Wales back in October. Since then, Swansea have won five and drawn three of eight home league fixtures.

After finishing in sixth and losing out in the Championship play-off semi-finals last season, Swansea will be hoping to secure promotion back to the Premier League this year. The Welsh side start 2021 in third place, just four points behind leaders Norwich City.

Watford Preview – Can the Hornets bring home a positive result?

Watford head to South Wales having won three of their last five. On Boxing Day, a first-half Ismaila Sarr goal gave the Hornets a vital 1-0 home victory over high-flying Norwich. That was new boss Xisco Munoz’s first game in charge, with the club sacking Vladimir Ivic just a few days prior.

Watford, who dropped down from the Premier League last term, will be gunning for an instant return to the top tier. The Hertfordshire side are nicely placed in fifth at the moment, four points behind second-place Brentford, who have played a game more.

Watford have the best home record in the division, but they have been poor on the road so far. In fact, they have claimed just two away victories, winning just one of their last seven.

Swansea City vs Watford Betting Advice

These two teams met in Carabao Cup action in September 2019, with Watford securing a narrow 2-1 win over the Swans. Since the 2010-11 Championship season, the last six Swansea vs Watford matches have been Premier League fixtures. In the last league meeting, City beat the Hornets 2-1 at Vicarage Road.

Key Facts – Swansea City vs Watford Betting Tip

  • These two clubs are separated by just three points
  • Swansea are unbeaten in eight at home, winning five and drawing three
  • Watford have drawn four of their last seven away games

Both teams will want all three points from this high-profile fixture. However, the pair look evenly matched on paper, and we fancy this one to end all square in South Wales. There is good value in the 1-1 draw at 5/1.

Even at the age of 32, Troy Deeney remains a vital player for Watford. Deeney has been in good form of late, scoring three times in his last four outings. Put some money on the Hornets No. 9 to score anytime at the Liberty at 7/4.
