Swansea City will be looking for another home win when they welcome lowly Wigan Athletic to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday. The Latics have one of the worst away records in the Championship, so it’s easy to see why the bookies have made the Swans their odds-on favourites. Will Swansea be too strong for their opponents in South Wales, or can Athletic cause an upset on the road?

Swansea City Preview – Comfortable home victory for the Welsh side?
Steve Cooper’s Swansea City have been hard to beat of late, losing just one of their previous seven in the Championship. After losing 3-1 at Brentford on Boxing Day, the Swans are unbeaten in three (two draws, one win).
Last weekend, Swansea picked up a handy point in the South Wales derby against Cardiff City. It was a tight and tense game in the Welsh capital, with neither team doing enough to take the bragging rights.
Cooper’s men are sitting nicely in seventh place at the moment, level on points with Sheffield Wednesday, who occupy the final play-off spot at present. Overall, the Swans have won 11, drawn nine and lost seven.
Swansea have split their points home and away this term, taking 21 at the Liberty Stadium and 21 away from home. However, six wins from 14 home fixtures will be a slight concern for Cooper.
Swansea could move back into the play-off positions with a win over struggling Wigan on Saturday. In truth, this is a game that they should be looking to win with comfort.
Wigan Athletic Preview – Can the Latics claim back-to-back away league wins?
Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic have one of the worse away records in England’s second tier. The Latics have picked up a solitary victory from 14 away matches, losing nine of the other 13.
However, that sole victory did come in their last away game in the Championship. On New Year’s Day, goals from Josh Windass (2) and Cedric Kipre helped Wigan secure a crucial 3-2 victory against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.

Wigan, who were beaten at home by Bristol City last time out, are well and truly embroiled in a relegation scrap this season. Athletic are second from bottom in the Championship table but only two points away from safety. Can Cook’s men leave South Wales with a positive result at the weekend?
