Football – World – World Cup 2018 Betting Tips

Welcome to my World Cup 2018 betting tips, and the quarter-finals continue on Saturday afternoon with Sweden taking on England at the Samara Arena with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs for both teams.

Sweden ensured their place in the last eight of this World Cup with a narrow 1-0 win over Denmark as the Swedes pulled off a classic rearguard action, defending stoutly after Emil Forsbeg had put them ahead after an assist by forward, Ola Toivonen.

Sweden are a hard team to beat, especially when they line up with two banks of four in midfield and defence, while the wide players, Claesson and Forsberg look to break quickly to support the front pair, Berg and Toivonen.

The back four have been particularly impressive with the likes of Granqvist and Lindelof mopping up almost every attack that comes their way, and although they face an England outfit who have provided an aerial threat from set-pieces, the Swedish defensive line look capable of coping with this.

Onto England then, and they eventually overcame a tough tackling and spirited Colombian side on penalties after the two sides were still locked at 1-1 at the end of extra time. England were in a tough match throughout, but they took the lead through another Harry Kane penalty which he blasted past keeper, Ospina, following more tussles in the penalty box from a free-kick.

It was a very physical encounter which included eight yellow cards, but it looked like England were destined for the win in normal time before Colombian defender, Yerry Mina, popped up with a header from a corner.

Another 30 minutes of extra time and then the tense and stressful penalty shoot-out will have done little for England’s energy levels, and the worrying aspect for the Three Lions is that striker Kane still hasn’t received any decent creativity from the midfield; three penalties, two tap-ins from loose balls in the box and a lucky deflection has placed him top of the list for the Golden Boot, but Kane’s luck could run out against Sweden here.

Another tense clash is in store I feel, and my betting tips system indicates another dour and low-scoring affair.
