League Two action kicks off this weekend with a Friday night clash between top half sides, Swindon Town and Colchester United, at the County Ground, with Swindon looking to lift themselves up into the play-off pack with a win tonight.
Swindon currently occupy 8th place in the English fourth tier, but all three points tonight would see them leapfrog Coventry City, Lincoln City and Wycombe Wanderers into fifth spot. However, to do so, The Robins will need to break a run of four consecutive defeats in all competitions following back-to-back League Two defeats to Grimsby Town and Newport County, as well as cup defeats to Stevenage (FA Cup) and Forest Green Rovers (Football Trophy).
A home record of 3-2-5 11/16 underlines their inconsistent streak this season, but forwards Norris (8 goals) and Anderson (4 goals) should keep them in the hunt for all three points this evening.
Visitors Colchester United sit just two league places below Swindon but are level on points as they make their way to the west country for this evening’s clash, no doubt looking to build upon their 2-1 home win over Exeter City last weekend.
The U’s have lost just twice at home all season so far, and their away form has also picked up in recent weeks as they’ve recorded wins at Yeovil Town, Newport County and Barnet, although they suffered defeat last time out on their travels, going down 2-1 at Notts County.
An away record of 3-2-5 9/15 includes defeats at the top three clubs, Luton Town, Notts County and Accrington Stanley, and a visit to Swindon could also prove to be a tough test.
