Europa League at bwin

The 1st legs of the 2nd qualifying round in the Europa League continue on Thursday night and our next fixture features a clash between Italian side, Torino, and Hungarian outfit, Debrecen, as the betting tips continue at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Torino Prediction – Can Torino make good start in Europa League?

Even though Torino are priced as heavy favourites to progress through to the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League, there’s a feeling they may be a little underdone.

Since the domestic Italian top flight season ended back at the end of May, Thursday night’s hosts have played just one club friendly.

This ended with a 3-2 win for Torino against Pro Patria who play two divisions below in Serie C, but the hosts have lost just 1 of their last 11 matches overall.

That loss came in the shape of a heavy 4-1 loss away at Empoli but results on home turf at their Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino have been impressive.

Torino have won 5 of their last 6 matches at home in all competitions with victories against Sampdoria, AC Milan, Sassuolo, Lazio and Pro Patria.

On top of that, Torino’s previous campaigns in the Europa League have brought about some solid results on home turf in this competition.

Thursday night’s hosts have won 5 of their 7 home ties in the Europa League to date, with 6 of these 7 matches resulting with Torino keeping a clean sheet.

Debrecen Prediction – Can Debrecen keep it tight in Torino?

It was the classic one-two from Debrecen in the previous round of this season’s Europa League as they saw off Albanian outfit, Kukesi, 4-1 on aggregate.

A 3-0 home win in the 1st leg at their Nagyerdei Stadion paved the way for Debrecen to progress through to the 2nd qualifying round.

They then held Kukesi to a 1-1 draw in Albania to make it through, but now face the daunting task of trying to knock Torino out of this competition.

Debrecen’s task is made that much harder as the visitors are without a win from their last 3 matches overall, which includes two defeats.

A 2-1 loss at home to Bekescsaba in a recent friendly was followed by the draw with Kukesi and another friendly defeat at home to Kazincbarcika.

This is not ideal preparation to face one of the stronger teams in the Italian Serie A, while results away from home have also been disappointing.

The visitors have managed to claim just 1 win out of their last 9 matches overall on the road which was a 2-1 victory at Mezokovesd-Zsory in the Magyar Kupa.

On the Europa League front, Debrecen have won just 1 of their last 12 away matches at this level.

Key-Facts – Torino v Debrecen

  • Torino have won 5 of their last 6 matches at home in all competitions
  • Torino have won 5 of their 7 home ties in the Europa League to date
  • Debrecen have won just 1 of their last 12 away matches in the Europa League

Betting Tips Verdict

Despite Torino’s quiet pre-season, the hosts should still have too much quality for Debrecen in this 1st leg.
