Tottenham Hotspur @ 1.33 with BlueSquare looks a cracking bet for an accumulator bet!

I really like the chances of Tottenham bypassing this awkward looking fourth round tie with League One opponents Leeds United, and their price has been made slightly more attractive after their first league defeat in five in midweek.

Although that defeat to Liverpool, at Anfield, may have rocked the camp, Spurs have still been playing some decent football of late and their confidence should still be intact as they still occupy the fourth and final Champions League spot. Their opponents, however, haven’t won a game of football since their giant killing of Manchester United in the previous round, even falling to defeat in the JPT on Tuesday night, losing at home to Carlisle. That defeat coming off the back of a 2-0 defeat away at Exeter City, which in turn came shortly after a 1-1 home draw with struggling Wycombe Wanders, so perhaps that win at Old Trafford has got to their heads as their post match displays haven’t been up to scratch.

Tottenham weren’t exactly outplayed on Wednesday night but they were outfought by a Liverpool team who showed a lot more hunger and determination than they did. That was a concern for us as teams like Leeds, who ply their trade in the lower divisions, tend to find these occasions easy to get fired up for and so Tottenham will need some extra motivation ahead of Leeds United’s arrival to White Hart Lane.

In our opinion, Tottenham should be far too strong for Leeds at White Hart Lane, at a venue they’ve won two of their last three in the league against far better opposition, and where they demolished Championship side, Peterborough United, 4-0 in the previous round. Harry Redknapp has almost the perfect squad for cup competition and he will use this to his advantage on Saturday when he recalls some of the Spurs’ fringe players for this clash in a bid to raise their morale. Alan Hutton, Jamie O’Hara, David Bentley and even Robbie Keane, of whom we are sad to see classed as a fringe player nowadays as the Irishman still has bags of quality. Keane has lost his place in the starting eleven to Peter Crouch in recent games, but his appearance on Wednesday night as a sub did introduce some life into Spurs’ attacking play and we feel he is almost a certainty to start in this game after being named as a sub in the defeat at Liverpool.

Tottenham will have far too much quality for Leeds United but their price isn’t the biggest (1.33 with BlueSquare) and so we’ve had to look for an alternative and who better to bring home the bacon than Robbie Keane, a former Leeds player. Not only will he be desperate to get in the goals after relinquishing his starting berth but he’ll be eager to score against his former employers, providing he gets the chance from the off. We feel he will start and we’re confident he will reward Redknapp with this smart inclusion.
