Tottenham Prediction – Can Tottenham upset the odds and win final?

Starting with Tottenham, and they’ve been handed two lifelines in recent times as the North London club scored a late goal in Amsterdam in their 2nd leg semi-final against Ajax to secure their place in this season’s Champions League final against Liverpool on Saturday night.

The second lifeline came in the shape of striker and leading goalscorer, Harry Kane (17 goals) reporting back to training, and now Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino must decide whether to start Kane up front or on the bench and trust the likes of Son and Moura to start.

Recent form for Spurs has been questionable to say the least as they’ve won just 2 of their last 8 matches overall, which were a 1-0 home win over Brighton and the famous 3-2 win over Ajax in the recent 2nd leg in the semi-final of the Champions League.

Although Son (12 goals) and Moura (10 goals) have deputised admirably, given Tottenham’s poor run of results in recent times, Pochettino must be tempted to throw Kane straight into this final.

With just 2 wins from their last 11 away matches overall, another away trip to Madrid is probably not high on Tottenham’s wish-list, particularly against a free-scoring Liverpool outfit, and with Kane severely lacking full match-fitness, they look to be up against it here.

Liverpool Prediction – Can Liverpool still grab silverware?

Liverpool have had to dust themselves and start again as they prepare for this Champions League final in Madrid against familiar opposition in the shape of Tottenham who they’ve beaten in 4 of their last 6 meetings in all competitions.

Liverpool also staged a memorable comeback in their Champions League semi-final 2nd leg at Anfield as they overcame a 3-0 deficit to storm back to win 4-0 against Barcelona which dumped Messi and Co out of the elite competition.

It seemed a highly unlikely victory beforehand, but this result shows the resilience of Jurgen Klopp’s side as they’ve recorded an excellent 13 wins out of their last 14 matches in all competitions – their one defeat during this period was a 3-0 loss at Barcelona.

Away form is also on Liverpool’s side as The Reds have won 6 of their last 7 matches on the road in all competitions and have suffered just 1 defeat out of their last 11 matches on their travels.

The forward trio of Mane (22 goals), Salah (22 goals) and Firmino (12 goals) look set to be unleashed upon Tottenham by Klopp in this final, and given Tottenham’s less than convincing defending in recent times, they could wreck havoc in Madrid.

Key-Facts – Tottenham v Liverpool

  • Tottenham have won just 2 of their last 11 away matches in all competitions
  • Liverpool have won 6 of their last 7 matches on the road in all competitions
  • Liverpool have beaten Tottenham in 4 of their last 6 meetings

Betting Tips Verdict

It’s hard to see Tottenham suddenly being able to tighten up at the back and even though they’re expected to be able to field Kane at some point, the quality of the Liverpool forwards should ensure the Champions League crown heads to merseyside.
