Football – England – Premier League Betting Tips

Dare I say it, but when I first saw the odds for a Tottenham win, they looked extremely lean, especially for a side who have struggled in recent weeks.

Tottenham’s grip on fourth place and the last remaining Champions League spot in the Premier League is now under serious threat after Spurs have managed just one win from their last four matches, which has allowed Chelsea to catch up.

Defeats at home to Manchester City and a surprising loss away at West Brom on the weekend, along with just a point away at Brighton mean that Spurs have gained just three points from the last possible 12 on offer thanks to an unconvincing 2-0 home win over Watford at Wembley.

Tottenham have two home matches to finish this season off, and given their recent form, they’ll need to win at least one of these to stay in contention for fourth spot. The hosts still possess a solid home record which stands at  11-4-2  34/12 but they’ve found it difficult to put their opponents to the sword in recent times, although they’ve kept five clean sheets on their last six on home turf.

By contrast, Newcastle United’s odds are at a ridiculous level, and possibly the highest I’ve seen for a Premier League side for some time, and you’d think that the visitors had already been relegated, collecting the lowest points haul in Premier League history, given the odds that have been applied to them by the bookies!

In reality, Newcastle sit in a comfortable mid-table position of 10th place in the top flight, even though they’ve lost their last three matches on the trot with defeats to Everton, West Brom and Watford.

In addition, you could argue that Newcastle have gained just one win from their last seven on the road, which was a 2-1 win away at Leicester City, but for the purposes of my pick for this match, The Magpies have lost by more than 2 goals away from home just once all season – that was a 4-1 rout at Manchester United back in November.

And okay, an away record that stands at  4-4-10  18/29 ain’t too pretty either, but surely Newcastle are better than the bookmakers suggest, and surely they can avoid a right hammering here…
