Tottenham Prediction – Can Tottenham bounce back?

Tottenham’s 4-match sequence without defeat in the Premier League was halted away at Old Trafford against Manchester United in a 2-1 defeat during the week, so Jose Mourinho’s new side will no doubt be keen to produce a positive response when they play host to Burnley at their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Saturday.

Mourinho came a cropper at one of his old haunts at Old Trafford but will be pressing his side to grab all three points against a Burnley side who are slowly but surely sliding down the top flight table, while Tottenham will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run on home turf to 6 matches.

This 5-match unbeaten sequence includes wins against Crystal Palace, Southampton and Bournemouth while their overall home record stands at a fairly solid looking 4-2-1 14/7 but with just 1 clean sheet at home so far this season, Mourinho still has the tightening of the defensive unit high on his agenda.

Spurs do possess a strong historical record at home against Burnley though as the hosts are unbeaten in their last 8 matches at home against The Clarets, with their last home match ending in a 1-0 win last December.

Burnley Prediction – Can Burnley avoid a third defeat on the trot?

Recent back-to-back defeats at home to Crystal Palace and Manchester City have seen Burnley slide down the Premier League table to 12th place and they face a tough trip to the nation’s capital this Saturday to face a Tottenham side keen to respond to their midweek defeat to Manchester United.

For their part, Burnley have now lost 5 of their last 7 matches overall in the top flight which includes earlier defeats to Leicester City, Chelsea and Sheffield United, and the visitors are now just 4 points ahead of the relegation zone prior to this weekend’s top flight action.

Although Burnley have picked up 5 wins so far this season, 4 of these 5 victories have been achieved on home turf at Turf Moor while results away from home have been less productive as The Clarets have recorded an away record of 1-3-3 9/11 so far this campaign.

Burnley’s one win on the road to date was last time out at Vicarage Road against Watford in a 3-0 win, but previous defeats at Leicester City and Sheffield United perhaps indicate further problems at Tottenham today.

Key-Facts – Tottenham vs Burnley

  • Tottenham will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run at home to 6 matches
  • Burnley have won just 1 of their last 9 matches away from home in EPL
  • Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 8 meetings at home v Burnley

Betting Tips Verdict

Tottenham will be desperate to bounce back here and Burnley’s poor record away from home should make this possible for Spurs.
