Tranmere Rovers can wreak their revenge on Boreham Wood on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Eastleigh at Prenton Park, as all three points in this Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off could see them leapfrog Boreham Wood into third spot in the National League.
Rovers found themselves on the end of a 2-1 loss at Boreham Wood last weekend following back-to-back wins against Maidstone United and Dagenham & Redbridge, so they’ll be hoping to bounce back with a win over bottom half Eastleigh on Saturday.
And despite losing last time out at Prenton Park to National League leaders Macclesfield Town, Tranmere had previously racked up nine straight wins on the trot, while their home record of 12-2-4 37/16 has resulted in Tranmere collecting the most home wins in the league to date.
Eastleigh currently occupy 14th place in the National League following a sudden slump in form which has seen The Spitfires go five matches without a win including defeats to Boreham Wood, Chester and Maidenhead United, along with draws against Halifax Town and Leyton Orient (which were both at home).
Away from home, Eastleigh have recently picked up three straight wins on the trot at Dagenham & Redbridge, Torquay United and Maidstone United, but their form on the road has dipped in recent times as they’ve taken a point at Fylde, but also suffered back-to-back defeats at Chester and Maidenhead United.
Eastleigh’s away record stands at 5-6-7 23/29 but they’ve kept only two clean sheets on their travels all season which could make them vulnerable at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
