Wednesday night brings us the last remaining fixture of this round in the National League with hosts, Tranmere Rovers, taking on Leyton Orient at Prenton Park with a valuable three points up for grabs for both teams.
Tranmere find themselves in the bottom half of the non-league top flight after an inconsistent start to the new season, which has seen Rovers win only four of their first 13 league matches, two of which have been at home where they’ve registered a record of 2-1-3 6/6 to date.
However, Rovers come into this match having secured all three points in Saturday’s 1-0 win away at Bromley, so they’ll be reasonably confident that they can get a result here this evening. Forwards Cook and Norwood up front should test the visitors tonight.
Onto Leyton Orient then, and following their disastrous relegation down from League Two at the end of last season, The O’s have found life tough in the National League as they occupy a disappointing 15th place on the non-league top flight ladder.
This is not the easiest of leagues at the best of times, but with the fans’ expectations of bouncing straight back up at the first time of asking, the pressure may be weighing upon the players in these early stages of the season.
Leyton Orient come into this clash having lost four of their last five overall with defeats to Boreham Wood, Halifax Town, Hartlepool United and Fylde. Their away results have been similar to Tranmere’s at home, where they hold a record of 2-1-3 6/12 on their travels.
