There’s just the one fixture being played in League Two on Friday night but nevertheless one that carries a fair amount of significance as Tranmere Rovers take on bottom club Macclesfield Town with more betting tips for our readers.
Tranmere currently occupy the last remaining play-off spot heading into this Friday night encounter at Prenton Park, but all three points here would see them jump into fourth place, so there’s plenty of incentive for the hosts in this one. Rovers will also be keen to post a third win on the trot following recent back-to-back wins over Lincoln City and Morecambe.
The hosts have suffered just one defeat amidst their home record of 3-2-1 4/2 which was to third placed Newport County, and although the goals have been scarce, Tranmere have generally been on top and have kept four clean sheets to date. Striker Norwood (8 goals) leads the way for Rovers.
Newly promoted Macclesfield Town find themselves bottom of League Two as they have still yet to register a league win this season and are the only side in the division yet to record a win. Four draws and eight defeats has been their meagre return to date, with three of their four draws coming at their Moss Rose ground with stalemates against Cheltenham Town, Mansfield Town and Forest Green Rovers.
Results away from home though have been even worse as their record of 0-1-5 7/15 indicates as they’ve lost at Swindon Town, Oldham Athletic, Crewe Alexandra, Stevenage and most disappointing of all, Morecambe.
Unless results don’t improve soon, Macclesfield could be staring down the barrel at another relegation from the Football League after having secured promotion at the end of last season’s triumphant National League campaign.
The visitors are without an away win from their last 22 matches on their travels at this level, and my betting tips suggest tonight could be their 23rd!
