Spartak Trnava take on Olimpija Ljubljana as the betting tips continue in these second legs of the Europa League play-offs on Thursday night.
Spartak Trnava are in the driving seat in this tie as they gained a vital 2-0 win in last week’s first leg in Slovenia against Olimpija Ljubljana, and now returning to their City Arena Trnava ground for this second leg, the hosts will be looking to secure their place in the group stages of the Europa League.
Trnava started their European campaign in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League where they recorded early wins over Zrinjski 2-1 on aggregate and a 2-1 aggregate win over Legia Warsaw, but came a cropper in a 3-2 loss to Crvena zvezda, so they entered the Europa League at this play-off stage.
Olimpija Ljubbljana find themselves having to play catch up in this all-important second leg in Trnava as they suffered a 2-0 loss at home in last week’s first leg. The visitors have produced mixed results in this competition over recent years with wins gained over Crusaders 5-1 and a 7-1 aggregate win over HJK in this season’s qualifiers being the highlights.
However, away from home, Olimpija have managed just two wins from their last 11 matches on their travels which were at Luxembourg outfit, Jeunesse Esche back in 2012 and Finnish side HJK in the previous round of this year’s competition.
Incidentally, 6 of Olimpija’s last 11 away ties in the Europa League have seen the visitors fire a blank, so they could be up against it against Trnava this evening.
