Turkey and Croatia meet in an international friendly fixture at Vodafone Park in Istanbul on Wednesday. With the pair facing tough UEFA Nations League games at the weekend, both will be looking for a good result in midweek. The Croatians, who were 2018 FIFA World Cup runners-up, head to Turkey as the slight favourites, but the hosts have lost just two games in two years. Check out our in-depth betting preview.

Turkey Preview – Can the Turks secure first win in six?

Turkey have drawn each of their past four fixtures ahead of the midweek friendly with Croatia. Since a somewhat shock 1-0 home defeat to Hungary in the Nations League back in September, the Turks have drawn successive matches with Serbia (twice), Germany and Russia.

In their Nations League group, Turkey are currently in third place with just three points to their name. Russia, who travel to Turkey this weekend, lead the way on eight points in Group B3, with Hungary second on seven. Senol Gunes’ boys still have to play both of those nations.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
5/6

Turkey were in excellent form before international football came to a standstill. In fact, they had won nine of 12 before 2020. After going five matches without a win (four draws, one defeat), Turkey will be desperate to get back to winning ways on Wednesday before two crucial Nations League fixtures.

Croatia Preview – Croatians to leave Istanbul with a positive result?

Croatia are a league above Turkey in the Nations League, but they have also taken just three points from four fixtures. Current European Champions Portugal and 2018 World Cup winners France lead the way on ten points apiece, while Sweden are on zero in Group A3.

After Wednesday’s trip to Istanbul, the Croatians travel to Sweden before welcoming Portugal to Split in their final Nations League match. Avoiding relegation to League B will be the ultimate goal for Zlatko Dalic and his men.

The Blazers have been in patchy form since international football returned, winning two and losing three of five. Nevertheless, can the 2018 World Cup silver medallists secure a friendly victory in Turkey in midweek?

The pair drew 1-1 in Zagreb in the first game, and a Cenk Tosun goal gave the Crescent-Stars a 1-0 win on home soil a year later. They also squared off at UEFA Euro 2016, with Croatia winning 1-0 in Paris.
