Turkey will be looking for a massive three points when they entertain minnows Gibraltar this Saturday in a vital 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier. Netherlands are top of Group G on 19 points, with Norway second on 17. The Turks currently find themselves in third spot with 15 points to their name. Gibraltar have lost every qualifying match so far, but can they cause the Crescent-Stars problems at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium on Saturday? We check out the best odds and tips.

Turkey Preview – Huge three points for the home side?

Since taking over the Turkish national team in September, Stefan Kuntz has guided Turkey to four points from two qualifiers. They drew 1-1 at home with Norway on 8th October, which was followed up with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Latvia a few days later.

Overall, the Turks have picked up four wins from eight Group G matches, drawing three and losing one of the other four. Their one and only defeat was a heavy 6-1 reverse to Holland in Amsterdam in September. Turkey are four points behind the Dutch and two points away from the Norwegians with two games to play.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score – No

The Crescent-Stars will be targeting a big three points from this one. They then end their World Cup qualifying campaign with a tough trip to Podgorica to play Montenegro next Tuesday.

Gibraltar Preview – Heavy defeat for Los Llanis?

Julio Cesar Ribas’ Gibraltar have huffed and puffed but ultimately been well out of their depth in World Cup qualifying Group G. They have taken zero points from a possible 24 after eight defeats in eight.

Los Llanis have conceded a staggering 34 goals along the way, which is the most in qualifying. They have managed to score three times, though, netting against Montenegro, Latvia and Norway. Can they at least get on the scoresheet in Istanbul this Saturday?

Gibraltar have suffered several huge defeats in Group G, and this could be another long night for Ribas and his men.

Turkey vs Gibraltar Betting Advice

The game between the pair at the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar back in September was the first ever meeting. It was goalless at half time, but the Turks stepped it up in the second period. Halil Dervisoglu opened the scoring in 54th minute, which was doubled by Hakan Calhanoglu 11 minutes later. Seven minutes from time, Kenan Karaman completed the scoring.

Key Facts – Turkey vs Gibraltar Betting Tip

  • Turkey have suffered just one defeat but find themselves in third
  • Gibraltar have lost all eight of their qualifiers
  • The Gibraltarians have shipped 34 goals in Group G

Turkey cannot afford to drop any more points if they want to sneak into the top two of Group G at the death. Montenegro will no doubt be tough opponents next week, but the Turks should make light work of Gibraltar on Saturday. Take a punt on the home team to win -3 at 4/11.

Burak Yilmaz is Turkey’s top scorer in this qualifying campaign, netting five times. Only Memphis Depay has bagged more in the group. Yilmaz scored a 99th-minute winner in Riga to give the Turks a precious three points last time out. Back the Lille man to open the scoring in this one at the tempting price of 5/2.
