Turkey Preview – Can the Turks avoid defeat in Istanbul?

Turkey ended 2020 in poor fashion, struggling for wins in recent games. They beat Russia 3-2 in a UEFA Nations League fixture in November, but the Turks drew five in a row before that. In their last match, the Crescent-Stars were beaten 2-0 by Hungary. That victory over the Russians remains the nation’s only success in over a year.

Senol Gunes’ men will take part in the UEFA Euro 2021 tournament this summer, taking on Italy, Wales and Switzerland. However, they have not reached a World Cup since the 2002 edition in South Korea & Japan, where they went on to finish in third place.

Our betting prediction:
Netherlands to win to nil

Turkey will be desperate to start this qualifying campaign with a positive result, but this will be a stern test for the home team. The bookies have the hosts as the 10/3 underdogs in this one.

Netherlands Preview – Holland to return home with a massive three points?

Netherlands are one of the standout footballing nations in international football, but Orange failed to reach the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Prior to that, Holland had finished runners-up in South Africa and third in Brazil.

Netherlands have been back to their best in recent years, though, and the Dutch will compete in this summer’s Euros. They will be hoping to follow that up with a place in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. As expected, Frank de Boer’s boys are the clear favourites to win the group and secure automatic qualification to next year’s World Cup.

Holland have lost just one competitive match since losing to Portugal in the inaugural Nations League final back in June 2019. The in-form Dutch should seal all three points in Istanbul on Wednesday.

Turkey vs Netherlands Betting Advice

These two last went head-to-head in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier back in September 2015. Turkey eased to a win on home soil, thumping the Dutch 3-0. Goals from Oguzhan Ozyakup, Arda Turan and Burak Yilmaz did the business in that one. The reverse match in Holland ended in a 1-1 draw.

Key Facts – Turkey vs Netherlands Betting Tip

  • Turkey have won just one of the last seven meetings
  • Both nations will compete in this summer’s European Championship tournament
  • Holland are unbeaten in five, winning their last two

With the pair set to battle for supremacy in the group, this opening fixture is a huge one. Turkey have struggled in recent games, while the Dutch have won their last two, scoring five goals in the process. We fancy De Boer’s men to seal a vital victory in the Ataturk on Wednesday. Back the away win at 3/4.

Turkey drew a blank in their last fixture, falling to a somewhat surprise 2-0 defeat to Hungary in the Nations League. Check out the top price of 2/1 for the visitors to win to nil.
