Turkey Preview – Can Turkey pick up their first win in this section and attempt to pressurise the leaders?
Three games into this section and Turkey remain in search for their first win. It’s not been the campaign which Senol Gunes would have been anticipating, particularly on the back of a really strong performance in the qualifying for next summer’s European Championships. That is clearly the focus for Gunes and his squad but they wouldn’t want to be staggering towards that with a poor showing in the Nations League.
A 1-0 defeat at home to Hungary has been the disappointment so far and put them behind the eight ball from the beginning. Since then they have picked up two good points away to Serbia and then last time out against Russia.

It was one extreme to another for Serbia this past week as an excellent 2-1 win secured their place in the playoff final and within a game of reaching the Euros. That was most certainly their big game of this international break and they done the job in thrilling fashion. A number of changes were made going into the home game with Hungary last time out and it showed as they went down 1-0 in pretty meek fashion.
The loss against Hungary puts them with virtually no chance of finishing top of this group but that will not be overly concerning to their coach and his players if they can beat Scotland next month.

When you look through this Serbian squad it’s something of a surprise to see them having to rely on the playoffs to reach the Euros. There is quality throughout and no end of attacking talent. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is arguably the star and he stepped up to the plate last week with both goals against Norway.
It’s very likely that Serbia will use this game to give some of the players who are on the fringe of the team ahead of that huge game on the 12th of November against Scotland.
