Twente Preview – Can Twente continue good start?
It was a disappointing campaign for Friday night’s hosts, Twente, as they finished in the lower reaches of the Dutch top flight in 14th place but they do at least seem to have put their poor finish at the end of last term behind them for the time being.
Twente lost four of their last five matches overall in the Eredivisie as they suffered defeats against Emmen, Utrecht, Heerenveen and Vitesse as their season fizzled out in disappointing fashion but an opening day 2-0 home win over Fortuna Sittard followed by a creditable point in a 1-1 draw on the road at Feyenoord has given them a welcome boost.
With just three defeats from their last nine matches on home turf at their De Grolsch Veste, Twente stand a fairly decent chance of getting something out of this clash with Groningen, especially as the hosts are unbeaten in their last four meetings against their visitors.

A relieved Groningen outfit finally ended their losing streak in the Eredivisie with a narrow 1-0 win away from home at Den Haag in last weekend’s Dutch top flight action which ended four straight defeats on the trot but they hit the road again in this clash at Twente on Friday night.
