Udinese Preview – Will the change in manager lead to a change in fortunes for Udinese?
Defeat to Empoli last weekend means it’s now four games within a win for Udinese who are beginning to slip down the table. It also spelled the end for head coach Luca Gotti who had two years in charge of the club. His assistant Gabriele Cioffi will take charge for this game as the club search for a new permanent manager. They prepare to face the champions in 14th spot but do have a six point cushion between themselves and the bottom three. Incidentally, they finished in 14th place last season and would probably accept a similar campaign once again.
One of the issues for the previous manager was the number of draws his team were involved in. Seven draws from 16 games means just three wins all season. At home that translates to two wins in eight attempts but they are unbeaten in their last four which does give them something to build on heading into this match.
Keeping clean sheets has been a major issue for Udinese so far this season. They have managed only three all season and just one at home since the opening weekend.
At the other end of the pitch it’s a combination of Beto and Gerard Deulofeu who are providing most of the goals. The duo have six and four goals respectively and with Deulofeu having spent some time on loan at Milan he will be desperate to add to that tally.

Milan may have exited the Champions League this week but you have always felt that the domestic titles were more important than progress in Europe this season. They went top last week with a 2-0 win over Salernitana, giving them a second consecutive win having lost back to back matches to Sassuolo and Fiorentina. Those are their only losses of the league campaign thus far and they will now hope to put a run of wins together.

Milan have been strong on the road, as you would expect from a team sitting top of the table. The defeat in Florence aside, they have won six and drawn the other. They’re also the joint highest away scorers in the division – along with rivals Inter who are only a point below them.
What has been impressive about this group of players is how they share the goals between them. They have had 14 different scorers already in the league with Zlatan leading the way on six goals.
