Saturday lunchtime’s hosts, Ulsan Hyundai, get their season off the ground with a home fixture against Sangju Sangmu at their Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium with the hosts looking to go one step better this term having been narrowly pipped at the post by Jeonbuk Motors at the end of last season, finishing runners-up in the K-League 1.
Ulsan Hyundai have at least had the benefit of playing a couple of warm-up matches prior to this new K-League 1 season as they registered a 1-0 win away from home at Ho Chi Minh City in a pre-season friendly and this was followed by a 1-1 draw at home with J-League 1 outfit, FC Tokyo, in the ACL Champions League before the competition was put on hold.
With just 1 defeat out of their last 15 matches at home in the South Korean top flight, Ulsan Hyundai look a tough proposition for Saturday’s visitors, Sangju Sangmu, especially as Ulsan ran out easy 5-1 winners in their last meeting at home back in August of last year.

It was a frustrating campaign last season in the K-League 1 for Sangju Sangmu as the visitors just couldn’t seem to get any sort of momentum together throughout the campaign and this was reflected in their final position of 7th place at the end of the regular season.
