Football – World – World Cup 2018 Betting Tips

Welcome to my World Cup 2018 betting tips, and we enter the quarter-final stage of these World Cup finals in Russia with Uruguay taking on France at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, with both teams in pretty good form.

Uruguay faced a tough challenge against the reigning European champions, Portugal, in the previous round of the last 16, but overcame Ronaldo’s side in a 2-1 win which earned Uruguay a spot in the last eight.

Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez combined well up front together to take an early lead following two cross-field passes to each other with Cavani applying the final finish, and although Portugal levelled through defender, Pepe, Cavani was the difference again as he executed a great curled effort to send Uruguay into raptures.

However, this result was marred by a calf injury to Cavani shortly after he scored what proved to be the winning goal as he limped off the field, and it’s unclear at this stage whether he’ll be fit to face France in this vital clash. Nevertheless, there’s a confident mood within the Uruguayan camp as they’ve won their last seven matches on the trot in all competitions.

France continue to chug along just under the radar as they topped a tricky looking Group C which also included Denmark, Peru and Australia without defeat, and they then saw off a spirited challenge from Argentina in the last 16 with a ‘defining’ 4-3 win over Jorge Sampaoli’s side.

In previous tournaments, France have often started slowly, and have struggled to post convincing performances early on in tournaments but Les Bleus seemingly possess a more ruthless streak under Didier Deschamps these days, and they’ll no doubt be confident they can reach the last four with a win over Uruguay on Friday afternoon.

France are unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions, and their improved resilience passed the test against Argentina as they found themselves 2-1 down, but fought back to earn victory thanks to a brace from Mbappe and goals from Griezmann and Pavard.

However, France have registered just three clean sheets from these last eight matches and even with just the predatory Suarez up front for Uruguay, my betting tips system suggests we could see both teams hit the back of the net today at great odds.
