Venezuela Prediction- Can Venezuela build on recent USA win?

Venezuela should be brimming with confidence having recently registered a convincing 3-0 win away at USA in an international friendly last weekend.

This will have been a welcome and much needed boost for Venezuela as they’d previously gone three matches without a win, which included two defeats and a draw.

The defeats were against Catalonia (in a Non-FIFA friendly) but nevertheless, a disappointing result along with a heavy 3-1 loss away at Mexico in an internationally recognised friendly.

The draw came in the shape of a 1-1 stalemate with Ecuador, but Venezuela’s finest hour in recent times was a 3-1 win away at Argentina.

Venezuela have captured just 5 wins from their last 21 matches overall though, and along with a spate of draws (9 to be precise) from these last 21 matches, they hardly look strong favourites for all three points in this clash.

The last 2 encounters with Peru have both ended in 2-2 draws but Venezuela lost the previous encounter 1-0 away in Peru.

Peru Prediction – Can Peru extend unbeaten run against Venezuela?

In the subsequent 10 matches since they appeared in the World Cup in Russia, Peru have managed to register just 3 wins as they too are struggling for consistency ahead of their Copa America opener with Venezuela.

These 3 wins were against Chile 3-0, Paraguay 1-0 and Costa Rica 1-0, all in friendlies and all posted on home turf at their Estadio Nacional de Lima.

Peru have lost the other 6 and 1 draw within these last 10 matches so they need to get off to a good start in this encounter as well.

Following the heavy 3-0 defeat over Bolivia, Brazil are now red-hot favourites to win Group A while it looks like being a two-horse race between Venezuela and Peru to claim 2nd place.

One possible thing in Peru’s favour though over Venezuela is the fact that they’ve been unbeaten in their last three encounters against Saturday afternoon’s opponents.

Two 2-2 draws preceded a 1-0 win in favour of Peru in these recent meetings and they should at least avoid defeat here too.

Key-Facts – Venezuela v Peru

  • Venezuela have captured just 5 wins from their last 21 matches overall
  • Peru have won 3 of the last 7 meetings with Venezuela in all competitions
  • Peru are unbeaten in their last 3 meetings against Venezuela – 2 draws and 1 win

Betting Tips Verdict

Venezuela possess some dangerous attacking options in the shape of Rondon etc but Peru should be able to grab at least a point in this opening fixture.
