There may still be 12 games to go in Serie A but Verona are undoubtedly have a great campaign and don’t look like falling away anytime soon. Ivan Juric took over the club last summer and the Croatian has had an instant impact on a team who only won promotion last season. Verona currently sit in seventh spot which would equate to qualifying for next season’s Europa League.

It was a winning return as well as Verona defeated Cagliari 2-1 on Saturday, despite playing most of the game with 10 men. Samuel Di Carmine was the hero scoring both goals and taking his tally to five for the season.

As they are 12 points behind Atalanta who are currently fourth, qualification for the Champions League looks beyond Napoli barring a collapse from teams above them. However there appears to be much more desire within the squad now to reach the levels they are capable of.
That bodes well not only for the rest of the Serie A season but also for the Champions League when that resumes. Napoli will face Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League last-16 with the tie at 1-1. It’s definitely not beyond them to get a result in that match to progress.
