The Spanish top flight beckons next as relegation haunted Villarreal prepare for the visit of high-flying Sevilla as the betting tips continue at the Estadio de la Cerámica with the hosts looking to claw their way out of the bottom three.
Villarreal Prediction
Even if Villarreal win, and that’s a big if, they’re unlikely to lift themselves out of the bottom three as they hold an inferior goal difference to that of third from bottom Rayo Vallecano, and having gone 10 matches without a win in La Liga, it’s looking highly unlikely they’ll break this poor run of results.
In addition, Villarreal have managed just one win from their last 17 matches overall in the Spanish top flight which was a 2-1 home win over 8th placed Real Betis back in November of last year, and even when they haven’t lost, all they’ve been able to muster have been draws.
The same sequence of results can be seen when looking at their results this season at their Estadio de la Cerámica as their record stands at 1-6-5 13/17 which again features either draws or defeats.
Indeed, it’s just one win from their last 13 home matches for Villarreal who are now in real danger of relegation from the top flight.

Sevilla Prediction
Sevilla will make their way to Villarreal in confident mood having secured a vital 1-0 win away at Italian outfit Lazio during the week in the first leg of the round of 16 in the Europa League, and they’ll be looking for more of the same against Villarreal here this Sunday as they look to consolidate their current top four position in La Liga.
With the likes of Getafe, Deportivo Alaves and Real Sociedad all breathing down their necks, Sevilla know they can’t afford to slip up here with a loss, but recent results away from home haven’t been encouraging for the visitors in recent weeks.
Sevilla are without an away win from eight outings which include defeats at Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, Real Madrid and Celta Vigo as well as four draws amidst an overall away record of 3-4-5 18/17 which is pretty underwhelming, and is the worst away record of the teams situated in the top four of La Liga.
Again though, the draw features quite prominently in Sevilla’s results away from home, and they’ll be encouraged by their win at Lazio during the week too.

Both Villarreal and Sevilla have been involved in a number of stalemates in recent weeks and with neither side in particularly sparkling form right now, backing the visitors with the double chance option looks the way to go here.
