Wales Prediction – Can Wales make most of home advantage?

The hosts got their Euro 2020 campaign off to a winning start under manager, Ryan Giggs, as Wales registered a 1-0 home win against Slovakia, but since then two defeats on the trot have left the Welsh second from bottom in this 5-nation Group E.

Defeats to Croatia 2-1 and a 1-0 loss to Hungary have set Friday night’s hosts back but Wales return to Cardiff for tonight’s clash with bottom nation, Azerbaijan, who have yet to gain a point so far in this campaign, so the home side will be confident they can return to winning ways at the Principality Stadium.

Wales have lost their last 3 away matches in Euro qualifiers, so maybe it’s just as well they’re returning to Cardiff for this clash where they’ll be looking to make up some lost ground, and with 2nd placed Slovakia playing 3rd placed Croatia tonight, this could leave the door open for Wales to close in.

Results at home in the Euro qualifiers has been very solid indeed for Wales as the hosts are unbeaten in their last 8 matches which includes notable wins against Switzerland, Belgium and Slovakia.

Azerbaijan Prediction – Can Azerbaijan open their account?

It’s been a terrible start to Azerbaijan’s Euro 2020 campaign as the visitors have lost all 3 of their matches played so far in Group E having suffered defeats to Croatia 2-1, Hungary 3-1 and a crushing 5-1 loss to Slovakia, which has not only resulted in Azerbaijan sitting on zero points but they’ve conceded 10 goals already.

Recent results overall have taken a downturn for Azerbaijan as they’ve lost 4 of their last 5 matches in all competitions, while on the Euro qualifier front, the visitors have never won an away tie in all of the 31 away matches they’ve played during the Euro qualification process.

Within this woeful 31-match period on the road, Azerbaijan have failed to score in 20 of these 31 matches on their travels, and have lost by 2 goals or more in 19 of these 31 matches. This is a very poor away record indeed and one that the Welsh will be looking to exploit on Friday night I daresay.

Key-Facts – Wales v Azerbaijan

  • Wales are unbeaten in their last 8 home matches in Euro qualifiers
  • Wales have kept 6 clean sheets out of their last 7 matches at home
  • Azerbaijan have failed to score in 20 of their 31 away matches in Euro qualifiers

Betting Tips Verdict

This should be a straightforward win for Wales who also look set to cover the asian handicap too.
