Watford will look to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the Premier League when they return to Vicarage Road to take on new-boys, Huddersfield Town, following a midweek defeat in the nation’s capital.
Marco Silva’s men slumped to back-to-back defeats in the top flight when they lost 2-1 away at Crystal Palace despite taking the lead, and this result followed last weekend’s 1-0 defeat away at Burnley, so The Hornets will be looking forward to returning to home turf today as they look to bounce back with a win.
Watford’s form at home has been fairly steady with a record of 2-3-3 10/16 which includes defeats to Stoke City and Manchester United, but wins over Arsenal and West Ham show they’re capable of more than just holding their own.
Visitors Huddersfield Town are another side that will be keen to arrest a slide in form as they make their way down to London for this important clash as they look to revive their fortunes and not let their good start to their new campaign in the top flight come undone.
The Terriers registered back-to-back wins at the start of the season with wins over Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, but since then, the west Yorkshire outfit have posted just a further three victories from their subsequent 15 matches overall – which have all been at their John Smith’s Stadium.
It’s important for any side to pick up points on the road however, and none more so than new teams in the division as the rigours of Premiership football can be harsh and unforgiving, and with a record of 1-1-6 3/18 which includes having lost their last five, and failing to score in their last seven on their travels, the signs don’t look good for David Wagner’s men here.
