Watford Prediction

Watford failed to record a third league win on the trot in the top flight on Wednesday night when they were handed a heavy 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool at Anfield which put an end to Watford’s back-to-back recent wins against Everton and Cardiff City, but The Hornets return to Vicarage Road on Sunday lunchtime to face Leicester City.

Overall, it’s been a much healthier and more stable season for Watford under manager Javi Gracia as his side sit in 8th place and are currently battling newcomers Wolves for the 7th spot behind the top six.

Watford’s results at home have also been fairly solid and consistent as the hosts have suffered just one defeat out of their last five matches on home turf, which was a 2-1 loss to Chelsea but wins against Cardiff City and Everton as well as points against Newcastle United and Burnley in 1-1 and 0-0 draws respectively.

The hosts possess a home record of 6-2-5 17/18 which includes 7 of their 13 home matches resulting in both teams scoring, and with forwards Deeney (7 goals), Deulofeu (6 goals) and Gray (4 goals) in Watford’s attacking personnel, the hosts stand a good chance of scoring here.

Key-Facts – Watford v Leicester City

  • 7 of Watford’s 13 home matches have seen both teams scoring
  • 9 of Leicester City’s 14 away matches have seen both teams score
  • The last 2 encounters at Vicrage Road have seen both teams score

Leicester City Prediction

Leicester City ended a run of six matches without a win in the Premier League last time out when they recorded a 2-1 home win against Brighton, following previous defeats to Manchester United, Tottenham and Crystal Palace – the latter being the final straw as former manager, Claude Puel, was dismissed shortly afterwards as The Foxes slumped to a new low.

Following Puel’s departure, Leicester City bounced straight back with the win over Brighton, and new manager Brendan Rodgers has been recently appointed and will take charge of his first match of Leicester City on Sunday.

Leicester come into this clash on the back of three away matches without a win on their travels following defeats at Wolves and Tottenham and a draw at Liverpool, amidst an overall away record of 5-3-6 18/21 which incidentally includes 9 of their 14 away matches seeing both teams score.

The Foxes also carry serious goal threats in the shape of Maddison (5 goals) and Gray (4 goals) as well as striker Vardy (9 goals) who should pose the Watford defence plenty of problems.

Betting Tips Verdict

Watford and Leicester City have produced mixed results of late but we should see both teams score in this encounter.
