Watford Preview – Comfortable home win for the Hornets?

After dropping out of the Premier League last term, Watford were many people’s tip for an instant return to the top tier. A lot has changed over the season, but the Hornets are riding high in fourth place at present.

Since new boss Xisco Munoz arrived in Hertfordshire, the Hornets have won four of eight Championship matches. However, they have failed to win any of the last three, drawing 0-0 with both Millwall and Coventry City and losing at home to QPR.

Our betting prediction:
Watford to win to nil

Watford lost their last home fixture to Mark Warburton’s Rangers, but the Herefordshire club have the best home record in the league. So far, Watford have won ten, drawn two and lost two of 14 at Vicarage Road. Can they get back to winning ways on home soil this Saturday?

Bristol City Preview – Robins to crash to another defeat?

Dean Holden made a steady start as Bristol City boss, but the Robins have really struggled for form over the past few months or so. City have lost eight of their last 11 in the Championship, dropping down to tenth as a result.

Last weekend’s disappointing home loss to Severnside rivals Cardiff City was their third straight Championship reverse. Since a 2-0 home victory over Preston North End in mid-January, Bristol City have lost four of the following five in the league. They have not won on the road in Championship action since a 2-1 victory at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium back on December 9th.

This could be another tough day at the office for struggling Bristol City. The bookies are not giving them much hope, either, pricing the away win at the big odds of 5/1.

Watford vs Bristol City Betting Advice

Watford have been poor on the road this season, but they did pick up a handy 0-0 draw when these two met at Ashton Gate back in November. That was the first league meeting between the two clubs since January 2013.

Key Facts – Watford vs Bristol City Betting Tip

  • Bristol City have won just one the last five league and cup meetings
  • The Robins have lost eight of their past 11 in the Championship
  • Watford have the best home record in the England’s second tier

After no wins in three, Munoz’s troops will be eager to get back to winning ways this Saturday. In truth, the Hornets, who sit fourth, should be too strong for the out-of-sorts Robins. Back Watford to win both halves at 7/2.

Veteran Troy Deeney has been in good goalscoring form of late, netting seven times in his last 14 outings. Deeney has scored the opening goal of the game in five of those. Back the 32-year-old to score first in this one at 10/3.
