Watford Preview – Can the Hornets secure an eighth home league win?

Watford have made a solid start to their Championship season. The Hornets are well and truly in the promotion mix as we quickly approach the halfway point, with Watford sitting pretty in fifth place on 34 points. Depite that, the club sacked Vladimir Ivic earlier in the week, replacing him with Spaniard Xisco.

Watford have picked up nine wins from their opening 20 Championship matches, drawing seven and losing four of the other 11. Last time out, though, the Hertfordshire club fell to a somewhat shock 2-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium, which was their second reverse in five matches.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
4/5

Watford have one of the best home records in the Championship. In fact, along with Bournemouth and Middlesbrough, the Hornets have collected 23 points from a possible 30. Can they get back on track with a vital victory at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day?

Norwich City Preview – Leaders to leave Hertfordshire with a point?

Daniel Farke’s Norwich City have responded expertly well from a sluggish start. The Canaries, who finished bottom of the Premier League last term, kicked off their Championship campaign with four points from their opening four league games.

Since then, however, Norwich have been the best team in the league by quite some margin. They have gone on to win 12 of their following 16, losing just once in the process. Since that surprise 3-1 defeat at Luton Town earlier in the month, City have won five in a row, scoring ten and conceding four.

Norwich have the best away record in the Championship after 20 matches. Farke’s side have won seven, lost two and drawn one of their opening ten on the road, collecting a staggering 22 away points from a possible 30. Will they return to Norfolk with a positive result on Saturday?

Watford vs Norwich City Betting Advice

Watford had the better of Norwich in the two Premier League meetings last season. The Hornets won 2-0 at Carrow Road in November, with Gerard Deulofeu and Andre Gray netting. In the game at Vicarage Road in July, Danny Welbeck hit the winner in a 2-1 Watford win.

Key Facts – Watford vs Norwich City Betting Tip

  • Watford have won three of the last four meetings
  • The Hornets have the joint best home record in the league
  • Norwich have taken an impressive 22 points from an available 30 away from home

After last weekend’s poor loss at Huddersfield, Watford will be desperate to bounce back against the league leaders. Norwich are the Championship’s best away team, but we can see the Hornets holding them to a draw here. Have a punt on the draw and both teams to score (10/3).

Finland international Teemu Pukki has been in excellent form of late, scoring six Championship goals in his last seven outings. Put some money on Pukki to score first at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day at 4/1.
