Werder Bremen Preview – Can Werder put their league worries behind them and make it through to the next round?

Now past the halfway stage of the Bundesliga season and Werder Bremen are very much involved in a battle for survival. They sit third bottom which equates to a two-legged relegation playoff. What’s even more concerning for Florian Kohfeldt is that they are just one point outside of the automatic relegation spots.

Whilst they have been scoring goals in this competition it’s defensively where Werder have been struggling throughout the season. They have the second worst defensive record in the top-flight and the fact they come up against arguably the most dynamic attack in Germany will be giving the coach and his staff plenty of concern.

The signing of teenage sensation Erling Haland has coincided with an upturn in form.
