West Brom Prediction

West Brom held Brighton to a 0-0 draw at the AMEX Stadium in their first match which extended West Brom’s unbeaten run in all competitions to four matches which included wins over Wigan Athletic in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and a league win away at Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers.

However, a 3-2 defeat at home on the weekend against Middlesbrough has brought The Baggies back down to earth and although they’d rather have got this cup tie done and dusted at the first attempt, they now have home advantage in this replay.

West Brom were lauded earlier in the season for entertaining football in the second tier but the goals seem to have dried up in recent weeks as six of their last nine matches at home in all competitions have resulted in under 2.5 goals.

Key-Facts – West Brom v Brighton

  • 6 of West Brom’s last 9 matches at home have resulted in under 2.5 goals
  • Brighton have won just 3 of their last 15 away matches
  • 4 of the last 7 meetings between these two clubs has resulted in under 2.5 goals

Brighton Prediction

Brighton missed out of their chance to progress into the 5th round of the FA Cup at the first time of asking following their recent 0-0 draw with West Brom, and they’ll now face a tricky replay in the west midlands on Wednesday night especially as their away form has been sketchy to say the least this season.

The Seagulls have managed just three away wins from their last 15 matches on the road with victories at Newcastle United and Huddersfield Town in the Premier League and a 3rd round FA Cup win at south coast rivals, Bournemouth.

Chris Hughton’s side have never been considered an attacking, cavalier side but rather, a well-organised and hard working unit that’s hard to beat. Hughton himself was a former defender but he’ll need his side to create chances in this evening’s replay as well as keeping it tight at the back.

Betting Tips Verdict

Four of the last seven meetings between West Brom and Brighton have resulted in under 2.5 goals, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see another low scoring encounter here with both teams expected to rotate their squads.
