The Hawthorns is the venue of my next pick with West Brom desperate for a result against fourth placed Chelsea, following a string of disappointing results for the west midlands club.
The murmers of unrest have been growing steadily louder on the terraces with West Brom now sitting just above the relegation zone following a dismal run of nine league matches without a win in the top flight, including losing their last three matches on the trot with defeats to Southampton, Manchester City and Huddersfield Town.
The hosts’ best chance here seems to be nicking an unlikely point against the title holders, and their home record of 1-3-1 6/6 suggests that Tony Pulis will set his side up to frustrate their visitors, rather than go toe-to-toe and play an open game. The West Brom fans will demand a better display this time around, or the crowd could well turn on the players and manager alike.
Visitors Chelsea secured a vital three points prior to the international break when they registered a 1-0 home win over Manchester United which handed The Blues a third consecutive Premier League win after they’d recorded wins over Watford and Bournemouth.
However, nothing less than a win at West Brom will do today for Antonio Conte’s men as they trail league leaders, Manchester City by a significant nine point margin. But this was the situation at the start of last season, and with an impressive away record of 4-0-1 10/4 under their belts, Chelsea look to be in good shape ahead of their visit to the west midlands.
Chelsea will be boosted by the return of striker, Morata, as they look to grab all three points to stay in the hunt for a top four finish.
