West Brom take on West Ham at The Hawthorns in what could be described as a typical Premier League ‘mid-table league’ clash, but the hosts have made a better start than the visitors under Tony Pulis so far this season.
West Brom still remain unbeaten on home turf in this new top flight campaign thanks to a 1-0 win over Bournemouth and a 1-1 draw with Pulis’s former club, Stoke City, and the resilience that The Baggies possess is once again evident this term as they’ve bounced back from four defeats on the trot at the end of last season.
Despite losing 3-1 away at Brighton last Saturday, I’m expecting West Brom to put in a better performance against a West Ham side that only won their first match of the new season on Monday night. Forward Rondon is expected to lead the line, and has Rodriguez and Robson-Kanu in support.
Visitors West Ham registered a much needed win on Monday night with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town following a wretched start to the new Premier League campaign as they’d fallen to three defeats on the trot prior.
Defeats to Manchester United, Southampton and Newcastle United saw The Hammers ship a total of 10 goals during that miserable sequence, so manager Slaven Bilic would have been delighted with a clean sheet against The Terriers.
However, West Ham have lost all three away matches to date in this new season in what has been a particularly cruel starting fixture list for them, and they face another tough task in the west midlands this afternoon against a West Brom side who are usually hard to beat in their own backyard.
