Slaven Bilic’s West Bromwich Albion will be looking for their first EFL Championship victory of 2020 when they face bottom club Luton Town at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon. The Baggies have been in poor form of late, but they are the odds-on favourites with the bookies to come out on top in this one. West Bromwich Albion Preview – Will the out-of-sorts Baggies pick up a much-needed three points?

After coming from behind twice to beat Birmingham City 3-2 at St Andrew’s in mid-December, West Bromwich Albion went two points clear at the top and a whopping 12 clear of third place. Fast forward six weeks, the Baggies are now just two points above the play-off positions in the Championship after a horrible run of results.

It’s been a spectacular collapse by Albion, who look nailed on for a top two finish. Since that victory at Birmingham, West Brom have failed to win any of their following seven in the Championship, drawing four and losing three. Slaven Bilic’s side have taken just eight points from the last 27 on offer.

West Brom have failed to win in four home league matches, but only two teams have left The Hawthorns with all three points this term. The Baggies have won six, drawn six and lost two in league action on home turf. With Albion now two points behind leaders Leeds United, who have also faltered lately, only three points will do this weekend.

Luton Town Preview – Can the bottom Hatters avoid an 11th straight away league loss?

Luton Town, last term’s EFL League One winners, have struggled to adapt to life in the Championship so far this season. Graeme Jones’ troops are bottom of the table with 17 matches left, winning only seven times. No side in the second tier have lost more games than Town, as 19 of their 29 matches have ended in defeat.

Luton have been particularly poor away from Kenilworth Road, winning two and losing 13 of 15. Along the way, the Hatters have shipped a staggering 39 away league goals. Jones’ troops head to The Hawthorns having lost each of their previous 11 league and cup encounters on their travels.

Even with West Brom’s recent woes, getting anything from this weekend’s trip to The Hawthorns will be a tall order for the Hatters. The bookies have the away win priced at 8/1, which tells you all you need to know about their chances of getting a result in the West Midlands.

West Bromwich Albion vs Luton Town Betting Advice

When Luton and West Brom locked horns at Kenilworth Road all the way back in August, Bilic’s troops returned to the Midlands with all three points. Town took a surprise early lead, with Harry Cornick netting for the hosts. However, Grady Diangana was Albion’s hero, scoring a second-half brace to give the Baggies a 2-1 win.

Key Facts – West Bromwich Albion vs Luton Town Betting Tip

  • West Brom are without a league win since mid-December, losing their last two
  • Luton have lost 11 league and cup away matches on the spin
  • The Baggies are now just two points ahead of third place in the Championship

Luton have not beaten West Brom since 1996, and we can see their long wait continuing this weekend. Both sides are in poor form, but West Brom should take maximum points from this one. The home team are priced at 10/11 to win -1.
