West Ham United Preview – Can the Hammers upset the holders?

David Moyes’ West Ham United have been in excellent form at the start of this season, picking up from where they left off last term. So far, the Hammers have won nine of their opening 13 league and cup matches, suffering just two defeats along the way.

Fresh from their derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur, the Irons will fancy their chances of toppling the Premier League champions in the cup on Wednesday. United have won three on the spin, seeing off Everton at Goodison Park and Genk at home in the UEFA Europa League before Sunday’s success over Spurs.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
4/5

They are the big underdogs, but West Ham fear no team at the London Stadium, and they will no doubt play their part in this Round of 16 tie.

Manchester City Preview – Will City secure a fourth straight win?

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City won this trophy last season, beating Tottenham in the Wembley Stadium final in April. Pep has a stunning record in the EFL Cup since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, and City are the favourites to win this year’s edition.

Like West Ham, Man City have also won their last three. After drawing 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield before the international break, the Premier League champions have beaten Burnley, Club Brugge and Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring 11 and conceding two.

Man City will have their eyes on all available trophies this season, and Guardiola will be looking to win the Carabao Cup for a fifth time.

West Ham United vs Manchester City Betting Advice

West Ham held Man City to a 1-1 draw when the two last met at the London Stadium. In the Premier League a year ago, Phil Foden levelled after Michail Antonio had given the Hammers a 1-0 lead. Man City edged the matchup at the Etihad, with Ruben Dias and John Stones netting.

Key Facts – West Ham United vs Manchester City Betting Tip

  • West Ham have won nine of their opening 13 games this term
  • Guardiola has won four EFL Cups during his time at Man City
  • City have scored nine goals in their last two matches

Man City have dominated this fixture in recent times, but West Ham gave them two tough games in the league last term. Anything is possible in cup football, but we fancy City to edge a tight tie in the capital. Check out the solid price of 21/10 for the away victory and both teams to score.

Phil Foden is in the form of his life at present. The young England international is having a fruitful spell in front of goal, too, netting four times in his last seven club appearances. Foden scored in the 6-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers in the previous round, and the 21-year-old is priced at 8/5 to notch anytime in this one.
