In what was anticipated to be a tight affair at the John Smith’s Stadium last Saturday against Huddersfield Town, West Ham fairly romped home in a 4-1 rout of The Terriers to extend their unbeaten run to four matches in the Premier League.
The Hammers now play host to Bournemouth at the London Stadium with confidence rising amongst the camp under manager David Moyes, who, along with his side, have a point to prove in the top flight. It should be noted that West Ham’s points on the road at Bournemouth and Tottenham in 3-3 and 1-1 draws, along with the Huddersfield win, all came on their travels in recent weeks.
West Ham have tightened up under Moyes, and have become a harder unit to crack as their recent form suggests; just one defeat from their last five on home turf within an overall record of 4-2-4 12/15 is a significant improvement, and they’ll be going for all three points here today too.
Bournemouth have also put together a four match unbeaten run in the top flight in recent times as they’ve picked up wins at home over Everton and Arsenal respectively, the latter being a great comeback against The Gunners as Bournemouth found themselves a goal down.
But conversely, three of Bournemouth’s last four matches have been at their Vitality Stadium, and although there’s plenty to be upbeat about at the moment in The Cherries’ camp, there’s no denying that their away form has let them down this season.
The visitors come into this clash on the back of a five match stretch without a win on their travels, as well as failing to score in six outings amidst an overall record of 2-3-6 8/17.
