West Ham will be desperately hoping for a change in fortunes after the recent international break when they take on early surprise package, Huddersfield Town at the London Stadium with Slaven Bilic’s men still in search of their first Premier League points of this new season.
The Hammers have had to endure a horrific start to the new campaign as they’ve lost all three of their top flight matches so far with defeats to Manchester United, Southampton and Newcastle United, with perhaps the most worrying statistic being a total of 10 goals shipped against them so far.
Let’s not forget though, that all three of West Ham’s Premier League matches were away from home, and they have a chance of making home advantage count for the first time of this new campaign this evening. Bilic will have to do without the services of Arnautovic who serves his final match of his suspension, but he still has the likes of Hernandez, Antonio and Sakho in attack as well as talismanic striker, Carroll, who is expected to be on the bench.
Visitors Huddersfield Town have made a fairytale start to their long-awaited return to the big time as they headed into the international break unbeaten and just two points adrift of in-form Manchester United.
Back-to-back wins over Crystal Palace and Newcastle United got The Terriers off to a flyer, and they won’t have been too disappointed by their shared point with Southampton in a 0-0 stalemate prior to the break either.
Huddersfield passed their first test away from home with a convincing win at Palace, but a trip to the capital on Monday night may well be a tough test of their credentials too. Manager David Wagner is expected to be without Cranie, Hogg and Stankovic, while midfielder Mooy may be doubtful.
The tide must turn at some time for West Ham, so tonight’s first home match of the season could be the occasion, but I advise giving the quarter-ball on the hosts this evening.
