West Ham will be looking to take advantage at home against League One side Shrewsbury Town when the two teams face off again in this evening’s FA Cup replay, following a 0-0 draw at the New Meadow ten days ago.
West Ham are really starting to click now under new manager, David Moyes, and this became very evident in their dismantling of Huddersfield Town in a 4-1 win at the John Smith’s Stadium which raised a few eyebrows, particularly in the convincing manner of the victory.
The Hammers are now unbeaten in their last five matches overall in all competitions, and they’ll be keen to pit this to bed as soon as possible on Tuesday night in order to avoid any unnecessary extra time. Moyes will be keen to keep the winning feeling going here this evening I daresay.
Shrewsbury Town received a dent to their confidence on the weekend when they lost 3-1 away at promotion rivals, Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, and with the chasing pack hard on their heels in the race for an automatic promotion spot in League One, I wonder if The Shrews will be as keen as West Ham in this cup replay.
League duties certainly take priority over cup runs these days, but Shrewsbury have been impressive in the FA Cup so far as they’ve disposed of National League side, Aldershot Town 5-0 in the first round, and then took care of League Two outfit, Morecambe 2-0 in the previous round.
But they missed their chance of a giant-killing at home ten days ago against West Ham, and with a trip to the capital for this evening’s replay, I feel they may well have missed the boat.
