I’m staying in London for my next pick, as West Ham and Watford prepare to do battle at the London Stadium, with both teams keen to get something from this encounter as neither side is completely out of the woods yet in terms of avoiding relegation.
West Ham sit in 12th place in the top flight, but come into this clash on the back of four matches without a win in all competitions, including an FA Cup exit to League One side, Wigan Athletic, as well as defeat last time out in the Premier League in a 3-1 loss at Brighton.
At the London Stadium, West Ham have produced more solid if not stubborn, displays under new manager, David Moyes, as they’ve lost just once in their last seven at home amidst an overall record of 4-4-4 14/17. However, there have been four stalemates within these last seven matches, so all three points are by no means guaranteed for The Hammers here.
Watford’s new manager, Javi Gracia, has made an instant impact at Vicarage Road with the Hornets as he’s secured a point in a 0-0 draw away at Stoke City, which was then followed by a resounding 4-1 home win over Chelsea on Monday night, and he’ll no doubt be looking for Watford to get something against a potentially wobbling West Ham outfit today.
Watford are six points ahead of the relegation zone, and even a point at the London Stadium here today may well be enough to lift them up into the top half of the Premier League, but they’ll certainly need to improve upon results away from home if they’re to ensure their top flight status.
An away record of 4-2-7 17/19 includes five defeats from their last six trips, but this could be the perfect time to visit West Ham.
