West Ham – Goals at both ends becoming the norm?

A brace for the returning Michail Antonio, making his first start in more than a month, ensured West Ham (W17 D7 L10) picked up a vital three points last time out at Burnley to keep the pressure on Chelsea in the race for the top-four. David Moyes’ side are now back to within three points of their London rivals, who face a daunting trip to Etihad Stadium to tackle Premier League champions-elect Man City on Saturday.

That 2-1 win at Turf Moor continued a theme which has seen them score and concede in five of their past six league games, while no team has managed this feat more times across the whole season (20). More importantly, though, it was the swift return to winning ways they craved, having previously lost back-to-back matches – succumbing 3-2 in Newcastle before a damaging 1-0 loss at home to Chelsea.

With their remaining fixtures kind on paper – after this weekend they go to Brighton and West Brom, before welcoming Southampton on the final day – there is now a real opportunity for them to kick on and cap a fine season with European qualification. Meanwhile only Man City have collected more points at home in the top-flight this term than West Ham, who have lost one of the last six at London Stadium (W4 D1).

Everton – Toffees coming unstuck at wrong time?

Any faint hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League via a top-four finish appear to have been all but extinguished following last week’s 2-1 loss at Goodison Park to Aston Villa. That was their eighth home defeat of the campaign – only once before, in 1993-94, has the club ever lost more in a single season during the Premier League era. Everton (15 D7 L11) remain nine points adrift of fourth-place Chelsea.

Catching near neighbours Liverpool but also Tottenham in sixth, the pair who are two and four points better off prior to this latest batch of fixtures, is the only realistic goal that remains for Carlo Ancelotti and his beleaguered charges. Unless the Toffees can improve drastically on a miserable run of form, though, neither of those sides are going to be caught in the little time that remains of this season.

Everton certainly have enough games to make up the ground, having to play five fixtures when most only have four, but one win in seven league games (D3 L3) makes investing much faith in them bridging those gaps risky. Ancelotti could, and justifiably so, point to a more polished record on their travels. Everton have won ten times away from home, keeping a clean sheet in four of the past five (W3 D1 L1).

West Ham Vs Everton Betting Advice

Of late, West Ham matches have made for great entertainment as goals for both teams becomes the norm. The visit of Everton, though, poses a potential problem. Away from home Carlo Ancelotti’s men have ran a tight ship defensively, conceding in only one of their past five encounters away from Merseyside having kept clean sheets at Arsenal, Brighton, West Brom and even Liverpool.

West Ham Vs Everton – Key Facts:

  • One defeat in twelve (W7 D4). That is Everton‘s recent record when playing West Ham away from home in the Premier League – their sole defeat coming in May 2018 (3-1).
  • Since a 2-0 loss to Newcastle in their opening Premier League home game of 2020/21, West Ham have scored in 14 of 15 subsequent league games at London Stadium.
  • The 1-0 triumph at Arsenal in their most recent away encounter made it four clean sheets in the last five Premier League away matches for Everton (W3 D1 L1).

London has also served Everton well this season. The Toffees winning four of five Premier League games to have taken place in the capital so far. Add to this their exemplary record away to West Ham (W7 D4 L1 in the last 12) and a strong case by made for the visiting team. However, the Hammers have only failed to score on one occasion in their last fifteen home league outings, so sticking with goals seems wise.
