West Ham Preview – Can West Ham see off Toffees?
West Ham continue to hove just above the relegation zone in 16th place in the Premier League following their 1-0 defeat away from home at Sheffield United last weekend which became The Hammers’ third defeat in four matches in the top flight.
A 1-0 win down on the south coast away at Southampton and a 4-0 romp against poor Bournemouth last time out at their London Stadium has just about enabled West Ham to keep their heads above water but they’ll face a tough test against an improving Everton outfit under Carlo Ancelotti.
Recent results at home have been disastrous for West Ham who had previously lost 5 of their 6 matches prior to their much-needed win against Bournemouth, while an overall home record of 3-1-6 16/19 will have their fans demanding more from their players.
Since leaving Everton, West Ham manager, David Moyes, has lost 5 of his last 6 matches against his former side, but at least we may see some goals here; 7 of West Ham’s 10 home matches have resulted in over 2.5 goals.
Everton Preview – Can Everton move closer to top five?
It seems almost unbelievable, but all three points for Everton away at West Ham this Saturday could lift The Toffees to within three points of 5th placed Manchester United following an impressive turnaround in form on merseyside.
Caretaker-manager, Duncan Ferguson, should be given credit for starting Everton’s revival as The Toffees won 1 and drew 3 under his guidance, and this has provided the platform for Everton to register 3 wins from their last 4 matches with wins against Burnley, Newcastle United and Brighton.
Further improvement is needed in Everton’s results away from home though as the visitors have managed to record just 1 win out of their last 5 matches and just 2 throughout this campaign to date amidst a poor away record of 2-2-7 12/21.
Having seen 7 of Everton’s 11 away matches generating 3 goals or more though, the goals market again looks appealing here as the visitors bid to lift themselves into the top half of the Premier League.
